HFM Demo Account
According to our experience in dynamic financial markets, we believe it is essential to acquire the required skills before venturing into online trading using real money.
HFM also recognizes this, and that’s where their Demo account comes in. Traders in Senegal can easily explore HFM’s platform and trading conditions in a risk-free virtual environment by signing up for the free demo from the HFM website.
When we tested the Demo account, we discovered it to be abundant in features. Traders are provided with a substantial virtual balance of $100,000 to freely explore different trading strategies and asset classes without any concerns about potential financial losses.
In addition, the Demo account allows Senegalese unlimited time to practice and become comfortable with the platform, allowing them to improve their trading skills at their own pace without any pressure.
The Demo account grants you complete access to HFM’s MT4 and MT5 trading platforms, which are identical to the ones available with HFM’s live accounts but without the added risks these real accounts bring.
Furthermore, traders in Senegal also gain access to the same charting tools, technical indicators, and order types in a secure environment for testing purposes.
We also found that with the Demo account, traders can access a wide range of tradable instruments offered by HFM, including all forex pairs, commodities, shares, and indices, giving them a holistic view of the available trading opportunities.
HFM Cent Account
If you’re a new trader without prior forex trading experience, you can consider starting with the HFM Cent account because it serves as a valuable practice field.
Here, you can trade with micro-lots, allowing you to transact in smaller currency increments.
Adopting this approach can mitigate your risk as you familiarize yourself with the platform and various trading strategies.
In addition, the minimum deposit requirement only starts from 3,000 XAF (depending on the payment method), making it a budget-friendly option for inexperienced Senegalese traders.
However, we urge traders, especially novices to remember that even though the leverage is capped at 1:2000, to resist the temptation of using such high ratios, as they typically come with increased risks.
HFM Premium Account
If you’re more experienced and you’ve spent some time trading forex and other markets, the HFM Premium account provides a standard trading environment. It requires a minimum deposit of 3,000 XAF using credit/debit cards as the payment method.
Furthermore, with leverage at 1:2000, we urge you to handle your risks responsibly according to a balanced risk/reward ratio and other strategies. Furthermore, this account gives you access to over 500 financial instruments that can be traded across MetaTrader 4 and 5.
HFM Zero Account
If you focus strongly on tight spreads and minimizing commission fees, the HFM Zero account could interest you.
With spreads starting from 0 pips on major forex pairs, you can save significant money on trading, especially if you trade frequently. Furthermore, traders can expect low and competitive commissions from $0.03 per 1,000 units traded using this account.
Furthermore, you should note that while there is no set minimum deposit to register this account, you should invest enough to cover margin requirements on instruments.
While HFM offers leverage of up to 1:2000 on forex major pairs, Senegalese traders should note that leverage on more volatile instruments is much lower to safeguard against sudden market moves. In addition, we also found that this account is compatible with MT4 and MT5.
HFM Pro Account
Next, we evaluated the Pro Account and found that it is ideal for professional traders who want to enhance their skills further and add a competitive edge to their trading.
This account allows for exploring advanced strategies with variable spreads starting from 0.5 pips but without incurring commission fees.
Furthermore, with leverage reaching up to 1:2000, there is the opportunity for increased market exposure, more advanced strategies, and, unfortunately, more risk.
However, because this account is more ideal for those familiar with risks, traders can use strategies ideal in volatile market conditions.
HFM Pro Plus Account
The HFM Pro Plus account provides an unparalleled experience to Senegalese traders who are familiar with trading and thrive in fast-paced markets where price fluctuations are drastic.
This account charges spreads from as low as 0.2 pips but does not have commission fees as HFM’s broker fee is worked into the spread already.
In addition, with a higher minimum deposit requirement of 153,000 XAF, you’ll gain access to personalized account management and exclusive trading tools.
HFM Islamic Account
Another benefit we found while evaluating HFM’s account types and features is that the broker also provides Islamic accounts that comply with Sharia law. These accounts are extremely valuable as they remove swap fees, considered interest charges, to ensure compliance with Islamic finance regulations.
While there are some limits on the trading instruments available (only Halal instruments are allowed), the Islamic account offers the same features as the typical accounts offered by HFM. Furthermore, Islamic Accounts can still use all the features on MT4 and 5 across devices.
According to our findings on the topic, Islamic accounts eliminate swap fees for holding positions overnight and instead apply a flat commission charge to ensure compliance with Sharia principles.
Furthermore, we urge Muslim traders in Senegal to remember that the Islamic account’s specific characteristics and commission fees differ depending on the instrument and market conditions.
Therefore, because these fees are dynamic and subject to change, we urge traders to consult the HFM website or chat with their live support for the most up-to-date information.
Are there any special features in HFM’s Pro account?
HFM’s Pro account offers reduced spreads starting from 0.5 pips and higher leverage, catering to experienced traders with significant trading volumes.
Does HFM offer an account with micro-lot trading?
Yes. HFM offers micro-lot trading on all its account types. Furthermore, the HFM Cent Account is ideal for those who want to trade smaller position sizes.

Trading Platforms

Our review includes a comprehensive analysis of HFM’s platforms and their integration with the broker’s accounts and trading conditions. We provide Senegalese traders with unique features and benefits they can expect when they use these platforms with an HFM account.
MetaTrader 4
Senegalese traders prefer using the industry-standard MT4 platform, seamlessly integrated into all HFM’s live trading and demo accounts.
The multilingual interface is incredibly user-friendly, making it easy to navigate menus and access various features without language barriers.
The platform also stood out to us because of its intuitive design and flexible charting tools that make it easy to use and customize according to our unique preferences and trading strategies.
The platform is user-friendly and the customizable features are particularly advantageous for beginners because it lets them explore different indicators and chart types to refine their trading strategies.
In addition, HFM’s integration with MT4 allows Senegalese traders to access high-leverage options (with caution!) directly on the platform, a feature that many Senegalese forex traders appreciate, especially those who start with smaller amounts of capital.
MetaTrader 5
We found that MetaTrader 5 (MT5), also available from HFM across account types, is a sophisticated trading platform designed for experienced traders.
The platform has enhanced features over its predecessor, MT4. These include broader order types for more versatile trading, hedging options, and a powerful 64-bit, multi-threaded system.
We also found that the depth of market function in MetaTrader 5 will provide Senegalese traders with precise information about market pricing and liquidity.
However, we found that it lacks a Senegalese language interface. Despite this, its user-friendly layout provides accessibility to all traders despite some language barriers.
Furthermore, HFM has incorporated its Return on Free Margin program into MT5, allowing traders to track and collect income on unused account balances.
HF App
In our experience, flexibility is crucial in the fast-paced world of forex. The functionality of HFM’s mobile app left a strong impression on us during our testing.
The app allows Senegalese traders to monitor markets, place orders, and manage their accounts directly from their smartphones or tablets, mirroring the core features of the MT4 platform.
This is especially beneficial for individuals wishing to remain connected to the market while moving. In addition, the app is available in various languages, which makes it a convenient and language-barrier-free trading companion.
HF Copy Trading
HFM’s copy trading feature is a fascinating choice for Senegalese traders, particularly those who are new to the trading scene.
The platform enables users to mirror the trades of skilled traders known as Signal Providers. After thoroughly examining this feature, we discovered that it is incredibly user-friendly.
Furthermore, it lets Senegalese traders easily navigate leaderboards, apply filters to Signal Providers based on different criteria, and automatically replicate their trades.
However, we urge traders to remember that copy trading involves inherent risks. Therefore, thorough research and risk management are of utmost importance.
Nevertheless, despite the risks, we found that this feature can be a valuable tool for Senegalese traders who want to gain insights from experienced counterparts and enhance their forex knowledge.
What advantages do Strategy Providers have on HFM’s HFCopy?
Strategy Providers on HFM’s HFCopy can showcase their trading skills and earn performance fees by attracting followers.
Can Senegalese traders access advanced trading tools on HFM’s platforms?
Yes, Senegalese traders can access advanced tools and features on HFM’s MetaTrader 5 platform.
HFM Range of Markets

According to our findings, HFM offers traders a choice between 1,000 instruments spread across markets. Senegalese traders have the perfect opportunity to create a solid, diversified portfolio of assets from the markets we discuss below.
Bonds
HFM provides a wide range of government and corporate bonds from various local regions, allowing Senegalese traders to tap into the expanding market and earn interest income.
In addition, HFM’s platform offers a diverse selection of international bonds, valuable for Senegalese traders to manage risks related to currency volatility, especially with the exotic currencies from local regions.
ETFs
HFM offers a wide selection of over 200 Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), including country-specific ETFs that track the performance of national stock markets.
This selection allows Senegalese traders to gain exposure to a variety of markets without the need to choose individual stocks, which could potentially reduce investment risk.
HFM also provides ETFs that target specific markets or asset classes, offering traders from Senegal more tailored investment choices.
Stock CFDs
HFM enables Senegalese traders to participate in Contracts for Difference (CFDs) trading on a wide range of stocks from major global exchanges.
The selection includes over 1,500 stock CFDs. This allows for the opportunity to take advantage of both rising and falling prices.
Commodities
HFM’s commodities portfolio offers a diverse range of assets, including traditional commodities like gold and oil and agricultural products like coffee and cotton.
This variety allows traders from Senegal to protect themselves against inflation or expand their investment strategies beyond traditional financial instruments. Furthermore, we found that competitive spreads on certain commodities can achieve lower trading costs.
Forex
HFM provides Senegalese traders with a wide selection of major and exotic forex pairs, which lets them speculate on currency fluctuations. Furthermore, HFM offers high leverage options that can be enticing, which means that Senegalese traders should exercise caution and manage risks diligently.
Precious Metals
HFM offers a wide range of precious metals for trading, including gold, silver, palladium, and platinum. These options allow Senegalese traders to expand their portfolios and potentially take advantage of market fluctuations in various metals, which can be more volatile.
Cryptocurrencies
HFM offers a wide range of cryptocurrencies for trading, including popular options like Bitcoin and Ethereum. This allows Senegalese traders to enter a dynamic, volatile, and exciting crypto market.
However, we urge traders to be mindful of cryptocurrencies’ significant volatility and speculative nature.
Energies
Trading options for energy commodities like crude oil and natural gas are included in HFM, allowing Senegalese traders to manage risks or take advantage of changes in energy prices.
However, in our experience, traders must thoroughly grasp global energy market dynamics to trade these commodities successfully.
Spot Indices
The HFM platform offers Senegalese traders access to a wide range of spot indices, including the US S&P 500 and the European Euro Stoxx 50.
This lets Senegalese traders monitor and benefit from the overall performance of these indices without having to spend time selecting individual stocks. This process can be tedious, extremely complex, and time-consuming.
Futures Indices
HFM provides futures indices trading, letting Senegalese traders participate in contracts for future index values and spot indices.
Senegalese traders have the opportunity to speculate on the future directions of stock markets, which can lead to increased profits and, unfortunately, losses due to leverage.
Therefore, before participating in this market, we urge traders to have a solid grasp of the intricacies of futures trading so that they can achieve success in this field while protecting their capital.
When does the Market Open?
A true 24-hour market, Forex trading begins each day in Sydney, and moves around the globe as the business day begins in each financial center, first to Tokyo, then London, and New York. Unlike any other financial market, investors can respond to currency fluctuations caused by economic, social and political events at the time they occur – day or night. The market is open 24/5.
What Trading strategy should I use?
Currency traders make decisions using both technical factors and economic fundamentals. Technical traders use charts, trend lines, support and resistance levels, and numerous patterns and mathematical analysis to identify trading opportunities, whereas fundamentalists predict price movements by interpreting a wide variety of economic information, including news, government-issued indicators and reports, and even rumors. The most dramatic price movements, however, occur when unexpected events happen. The event can range from a Central Bank raising domestic interest rates to the outcome of a political election or even an act of war. Nonetheless, more often it is the expectation of an event that drives the market rather than the event itself.
Leverage and Margin

Many Senegalese traders find great appeal in HFM’s leverage options, but it’s important to understand the risks before investing.
We looked at the client agreements and various other documents from HFM to learn about their margin and leverage strategies specifically for Senegalese clients, and here’s what we found:
- HFM gives Senegalese traders up to 1:2000 leverage on specific products like CFDs, commodities, and Forex pairings. This means you can open a position worth up to $2,000 for every $1 investment.
- While leverage of up to 1:2000 is tempting, it increases both gains and losses. This means that even the slightest upward market swing can increase your profits, but a little downward swing can cause enormous losses that could exceed your original deposit.
- HFM offers negative balance protection to protect traders against losing more than their initial deposit.
Next, we also read up on HFM’s margin and why it’s so important. Margin is the bare minimum you must have in your account to keep a leveraged position open, regardless of the market.
Furthermore, HFM margin requirements are instrument- and leverage-specific. For instance, a major currency pair like EUR/USD will typically have a smaller margin requirement than a more exotic combination.
We also came across the “Margin Calls” concept while reading through HFM’s documentation. We found that leverage increases the possibility of a margin call even while its margin requirements are reduced.
Basically, we can explain it as follows:
- When the equity in your account goes below a predetermined level – usually stated as a percentage of the utilized margin – a margin call occurs.
- In such an event, HFM can ask you to close any or all of your active trades to increase your account balance beyond the minimal margin requirement.
Furthermore, we know that HFM emphasizes client fund security and safety. Therefore, HFM offers tools like stop-loss orders to help Senegalese traders reduce possible losses and emphasizes the need for risk management in its materials.
However, despite these tools, the trader is accountable for mitigating risk and ensuring they use the tools provided to protect their capital.
Remember that although it is a powerful instrument, not everyone should use leverage. Therefore, before using high-leverage strategies with HFM, you must thoroughly evaluate your trading experience, risk tolerance, and financial limitations.

Spreads and Fees

Fees
HFM is popular globally for its versatile trading accounts, robust platforms, and trading conditions. The trading conditions that Senegalese traders can expect depend on their accounts, the markets they’re trading, and the market conditions when they trade.
However, given the information available, we can give Senegalese traders an idea of what they can expect from HFM in terms of trading and non-trading fees.
HFM Spreads
- Cent and Premium Accounts: These accounts have wider spreads from 1.2 pips because they are commission-free and have the broker’s fee already worked into the spread.
- Zero Account: This option offers highly competitive spreads starting at 0 pips for major forex pairs. Traders from Senegal who frequently execute trades can gain a significant advantage from this cost advantage. Nevertheless, it is worth mentioning that the Zero account balances out its narrow spreads by charging commission fees per trade.
- Pro and Pro Plus Accounts: The Pro and Pro Plus accounts provide a more traditional spread structure for Senegalese traders looking for lower upfront costs. The spreads on these accounts begin at 0.5 and 0.2 pips (respectively) for major forex pairs, which are quite competitive in the market. Similar to the Cent and Premium accounts, there are no commission fees on these accounts, so the cost per trade is determined solely by the spread itself.
Commissions
Commissions are an extra expense to take into account for Senegalese traders using the Zero account.
The commissions are calculated for each side of the trade and depend on the trade volume. For example, from our research into this account, a Senegalese trader on the Zero account could be charged a commission of $0.03 per $1,000 traded on a EUR/USD position.
Overnight Fees
Traders from Senegal who keep their positions open overnight will be subject to overnight fees, which we’ve found industry standard across most forex and CFD brokers in the industry.
These fees are calculated using the variations in interest rates between the currencies in a forex pair. A benefit of HFM is that the broker offers a swap rates table that Senegalese traders can use to access the latest overnight fees for different instruments conveniently.
Deposit and Withdrawal Fees
HFM does not typically impose any charges for deposits or withdrawals, which benefits Senegalese traders. However, traders must note that deposits under $100 on Bank Wire face fees.
Furthermore, Senegalese traders need to acknowledge that they could be subject to fees when using certain deposit or withdrawal methods, such as banks or payment processors. These are not internal fees and are typically charged by the third-party provider.
Inactivity Fees
HFM charges an inactivity fee for inactive accounts. Traders in Senegal should know that if their account remains inactive for 6 months, they will be charged a $5 monthly fee for inactivity.
Currency Conversion Fees
Traders in Senegal who have accounts in currencies other than USD, NGN, or ZAR will come across currency conversion fees. HFM offers a clear view of the conversion rate, letting Senegalese traders easily determine the exact amount they will receive or need to deposit.
Does HFM charge any overnight fees?
Yes. HFM charges overnight fees when Senegalese traders hold positions open after the markets have closed. These fees will vary based on market conditions, the trading position, market conditions, and the asset traded.
Does HFM impose any deposit fees?
No, HFM does not typically charge any fees for deposits over $100 on bank wire. All other deposit methods do not have any deposit fees, regardless of the deposited amount.

When helping the people of Larnaca, Cyprus, HFM does not stand back to let others do the hard work.

Conclusion
Overall, as we conclude our review of HFM, we can say that traders from Senegal who are looking for a forex and CFD broker will find that HFM offers a feature-rich platform with a wide range of trading instruments and the opportunity to earn bonuses.
Furthermore, HFM offers flexible account types that cater to several types of traders and their experience levels. The fees charged are not only transparent, but they are competitively low when compared to other brokers and industry standards.
HFM offers multilingual support to Senegalese traders, and there is a plethora of educational materials, trading tools, and resources available to help traders grow, refine their trading, and compete in volatile markets.
However, while there are so many positives, HFM also has some drawbacks that we identified. Firstly, HFM is not locally regulated in Senegal, does not offer XAF-denominated accounts, and offers no local payment methods for deposits and withdrawals from Senegal.
Despite these drawbacks, we can see that HFM constantly updates and expands its offer to cater to traders globally. We believe that HFM is a safe and reliable option for many Senegalese traders, from novices to experts.
Our Insight
- Giving Senegalese traders access to a wealth of educational resources in French would allow them to improve their trading skills in a more familiar language.
- With more people using their phones to trade forex and CFDs, HFM needs to invest in improving its proprietary app. More Senegalese traders who prefer mobile trading can be attracted if the HFM mobile platform is optimized for Senegalese smartphones.
- Even while bank transfers are available, it would be more convenient for Senegalese traders if popular e-wallets and regional payment solutions could be integrated. This would also allow the platform to possibly attract more users.
